Valerio Fiori (born April 27, 1969 in Rome) is an Italian goalkeeper who plays for Serie A club A.C. Milan.
Career
Fiori is currently the third choice behind Dida and Zeljko Kalac. He has made only two official appearances in eight seasons with the club: a 4-2 loss in Serie A to Piacenza Calcio, and a 1-0 Coppa Italia win over U.C. Sampdoria as a first-half injury replacement for Christian Abbiati. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani stated that Fiori's lengthy stint at the club, despite his lack of playing time, was due to his professional conduct.
Before AC Milan, he played for Lodigiani (1 season), Lazio (6 seasons), Cagliari (3 seasons), Cesena, Fiorentina and Piacenza (1 season apiece). It was because of his impressive performances with Piacenza that Milan decided to sign him, although at the time they already had Sebastiano Rossi and Abbiati in their ranks. Though he made four appearances for Italy's Under-21 squad, Fiori was never called up for the senior side.
He was Milan's starting keeper in a 2-2 friendly draw with Dynamo Kiev on September 6, 2007, which marked his first full match with the Rossoneri since a 1-1 draw with Chelsea F.C. in a friendly on August 1, 2005.
Trivia
Fiori graduated with a bachelor's degree in law from University of Rome La Sapienza on July 12, 2007.
